String Sling was an idea born during the tumultuous time of COVID-19 when I picked up my guitar again for the first time in 17 years. Strumming my favorite tunes and learning new chords acted as a sort of therapy for me. After reigniting my passion for playing guitar, I started collecting guitars and accessories alike: cases, stands, picks, you name it. One of the things I didn’t like that I was constantly having to buy, however, were the strings. I found my strings deteriorating at astonishing rates whether that be due to the salt water in the air by my home, the sunlight as it sat on display, or simply by the passing of the clock. I was having to tediously re-string my guitars so often I thought there had to be a way to protect them and make them last at least a little longer.
Turns out, I wasn’t alone in this annoyance. Fellow guitarists, my family and my friends brainstormed for hours on end about fabric, design, and features that would accomplish our goal. Soon enough, we had String Sling in all of its versatile glory. In addition to making sure the plush microfiber contours to the strings in a way that protects them from potentially harmful environments, we decided to add storage pouches for other items essential to rocking out like picks and capos. We also made sure that this product could function as an ultra-comfortable guitar strap with specially-placed padding and just the right amount of sling to making playing the guitar just as comfortable as protecting it.
String Sling is absolutely a labor of love, not only from me, but from the community around me. By pursuing an answer for how to preserve my strings better, we have actually created something that does that and so much more. And now, all that’s left is sharing this wonderful all-in-one product with other musicians who are hungry for new and innovative ways to keep our babies as pristine as possible.
